The Lakes College, a leading independent school on the Northside of Brisbane, approached us to design and install a background music system for the cafe and oval areas of the school.
With a program of continuous improvement of facilities in place, Head of Faculty Wendy Johnston, was looking to improve the ambience of the high-traffic areas for school events as well as day to day activities.
The system had to be able to reproduce music playback as well as the occasional requirement for voice reinforcement all while staying within budget constraints. With hardware being situated outdoors, the design also had to cater for the weather elements to which the equipment would be subjected.
To achieve this, we recommended Yamaha commercial audio for a complete package. We selected the VXS 8 Surface mount speakers to cover the oval and seating areas. With their excellent sound reproduction, they handled the coverage with ease and the VXS flexible mounting brackets made installation quick and simple.
For the café area, a pair of the low profile VXC ceiling speakers were selected to fit within the tight ceiling cavity.
For control of the system, we paired up a Yamaha MTX3 processor with a DCP4V4S control panel to provide simple to operate controls for the school. This control panel, along with the input panel were mounted within a secure IP65 enclosure on the external of the building to provide easy access when required. The result is a system that provides full range sound throughout all external areas of the building, with a simple user interface that staff have transitioned to operating with ease.
